Idea 24 – Extra weight

I feel I should be talking wind power this morning (I hope everyone has battened down the hatches and fences have survived the high winds so far).

Here are some wind facts for interest:

The UK is the world leader in offshore wind, with more installed capacity than any other country. Already, offshore wind powers the equivalent of 4.5 million homes annually and will generate over 10% of UK electricity by 2020. The cost of new offshore wind has fallen by 50% since 2015 and it is now one of the lowest cost options for new power in the UK – cheaper than new gas and nuclear power.

Instead I’m thinking of extra weight and wasted energy. Our family car gradually fills up with ‘stuff’. As we head out to various places ‘stuff’ starts to accumulate in the car. Eventually we are driving around with copious amounts of unnecessary items. Interestingly this is a phenomenon which occurs in my change bag, the pushchair basket, my handbag and my coat pockets.I s this a reflection of my state of mind? Most probably!I take a lot of things on trips and those items will never see the light of day. This week I’m going to have a clear out and reduce the amount of unnecessary items I carry, walk, push and drive around. Hopefully saving my own energy and bus/car fuel in the process. I might even clean the car and the pushchair in the process. What extra weight could you reduce this week to save a little extra energy use?I know I always feel calmer when I know where things are and I’m not scrabbling around looking for something.
